Formed in Färila, Hälsingland, Sweden in the fall of 2001 by Scandinavian guitar hero Rick Torpedo (Lazy southern dogs) and drummer Trucker (Sniffing Glue). M.J (Sniffing Glue) joined soon after on second guitar and Sonny Barrel on bass. Influenced by artists like Motorhead, Molly Hatchet and the Stooges the band started to play punch rock; Punk rock and knock-outs. After one year of rehearsal, one studio session and a few gigs M.J left and nobody replaced him. In august 2002 the band got the opportunity to record Ice Age for the U.K subs tribute album Brand new rage (DSS records, released in October 2003) and in November 2002 the first proper ep "A tribute to Sonic Barrels" was recorded.
SB wrote new material, had some more gigs and then six month later in June 2003 another ep "The almighty power of the Sonic Barrels" was recorded, and in the same session Ring my bell for the Union Carbide Production tribute split 7 single on Golden shower of hits records.
In January 2004 they delivered "The good, the bad & the Sonic barrels". Four rocking tracks that really showed the spirit of the Sonic Barrels. Soon after Johnny Doll (Texas blood money) joined on second guitar. In early 2005, the Sonic Barrels recorded a 8 track demo titeled "Sonic Ladyland". In the biginning of 2006 the band went to Germany to record the split ep "Joined at the Dick" with german punk/garage heroes S.O.S.E. They also did a couple of gigs together i Köln. A new ep "Suburban heroes" wa released in Frebuary.
After five years of sonic duty Mr Rick Torpedo suddenly left october 2006. But before you can count to 4 he was replaced. Young, furyus and handsome Mark Lizard joined on guitar and from the coastline of Hälsingland the fabulous vocalist A. Dalton. The plans for 2007 is another ep and a Germany tour with S.O.S.E.
