Really I'm just another "eco-cidal maniac" like the rest of you, here to consume my share of what's around while I'm alive. I'm blessed to have had the dumb luck of being born in the first world during this time of excess and I'm gonna take full advantage damnit. Seriously, if you're not part of the problem, you're probably not having any fun. It's not that I don't see the consequences of my actions or that I'm condoning eating shark fin soup or something, I just think it's hyprocritical to say that I'm just gonna "cut back" or "try" to use less when making a difference takes so much more than that, and you know it. What about lessening our joint ecological footprints and solving our problems with the distribution of resources you say? Look, there's gonna be 12 billion people on this rock by the middle of this century. Sure I turn the faucet off while I brush my teeth and avoid spilling a drop of gas while I'm filling up at the station, but I'm not naive enough to think that this super-populated house of cards will be butressed by conservation and rationing. Don't call me a pessimist, because as long as I can get it, my glass will be more that half full. Ok, so my grandkids are gonna have a problem on their hands, but at least they'll be entertained by my stories about the good ol' days of plenty, right?
