The Sons Of Katie Elder sind drei Westmänner, die wenig vom hochglanzpolierten, modernen Country-Pop halten – sie setzen vielmehr auf die raubeinigen, ursprünglichen Klänge, die in der Glanzzeit der Country-Musik (den 50er und 60er Jahren) angesagt waren. Oder, um es kurz zu machen: „They play good ole country from good ole Europe!“
Das Trio aus Stuttgart interpretiert die Songs von Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard und Marty Robbins mit dem Kick, der schon vor fünfzig Jahren in Sam Phillips Sun Studio in Memphis nicht fehlen durfte. Besonders stolz sind Johnny Twang (Gesang, Gitarre), Mike Stampede (Bass, Gesang) und Brad Wash (Fiddle, Waschbrett, Snare und Gesang) auf ihre Reproduktion des klassischen „Boom-chicka-boom“-Sounds von Johnny Cash and The Tennessee Two.
Inzwischen hat auch neueres Liedgut von Newcomern wie Josh Turner und etablierten aber unangepassten Nashville-Acts wie Hal Ketchum Eingang in ihr Repertoire gefunden.
