The SoulCats burst onto the Boise music scene in April 2006. From Down Town Boise’s hot spots such as the Reef, The Big Easy, The Piper Pub, & Grainey's to Thursday Thunder, Nampa Nights, The Botanical Gardens & St. Chappelle concert series, TF Jazz in the Canyon, conventions, weddings & parties all over the Northwest the Soul Cats have enjoyed unprecedented success. By combining experienced working musicians with impeccable music sense each member of this band is at the top of his game. What sets this group apart is their ability to take any genera of music and make it their own. These cats play New Orleans Funk, Soul, Motown, & Jazz as well as cover your favorite artists & songs. Being able to adapt to different crowds, events & requests has kept this group truly original.
Their first Live CD, Funkier Than We Look, is a sampling of some of the music they are known for in their live performances, including tunes from The Meters, Marc Boussard, and an arrangement of The Temptations' "Ain"t Too Proud to Beg" unlike any you've ever heard before. NOT THE SAME OLD STALE TUNES! Even when playing a song that's familiar, they do it in a way that makes it fresh.
