Na jaren gespeeld te hebben in allerlei electronica acts, rock en jazz bands is de tijd gekomen voor deze groep Amsterdammers om zich te wagen aan de muziek waar ze echt hun hart aan hebben verpand: old school funk & raw soul!
De band was binnen een week bij elkaar voor de eerste repetitie en al na een maand speelklaar voor hun eerste, succesvolle optreden. De rest is geschiedenis. Sindsdien timmeren The Soul Prophets hard aan de weg, mede door het uitbreiden van hun interessante repertoire.
The Soul Prophets spelen rauwe Funk en Soul uit de tijd van James Brown,
The Meters en Aretha Franklin en bewerken tevens recente Neo-Soul hits in deze stijl. Veel nummers uit het repertoire zullen door mensen herkend worden als samples uit populaire hiphopplaten. Daarnaast spelen ze ook popnummers in soul versies.
Kortom: Hun dansbare mix van Deep Funk & Soul biedt genoeg herkenning voor zowel de kenner als de leek!
