The Soundabout-Chasing Ghosts. Pasadena, California is primarily known for being the home of the Rose Bowl (and parade) as well as for the little old lady in the Beach Boys song, but it's also home to Daniel Cleland, a/k/a The Soundabout. Cleland lists the Beatles, XTC, The Shins and My Morning Jacket as influences, and while some mixture of these bands yields an approximation of his sound, I also hear heartland rock like the Wallflowers in the opener "The Things You Come to Love". "As It Goes" has the buoyancy of some of the Shins' better efforts, while "Finding My Way There" shares its anthemic quality with The Jayhawks' "Smile". Another winner here is "Underground" with its "ooh-ooh-ooh" hook. Viva Pasadena! (Absolute Powerpop)

Hey! All is well. Its been forever since I wrote you. I think I forgot your bday too. Sorry. My bad. Our holiday was nice. Ate way too much and didn't drink enough. You know...the usual. Its chilly here in Sac...perfect Pinot weather:) Take care of yourself, Wen
Oh yeah, I would be honored to guest on your next effort. It would be my pleasure as always to work with you again. I miss the old line-up and the fun we had in that ultra-creative atmosphere you promote
Dan, I wish I had the gift of songwriting you seem to have. Your crafty and artful tuneage is mighty flavorful and goes well with both red and white vintages. And is at home both on paper plates and fine bone china it is appropriate at any time of day....
