From the fast and heavy "Run For Cover," to the acoustic/electric "Perfect," making the debut CD by these Massachusetts natives has been a thrill for Lead Vocalist/Guitarist Lonnie Richard: "This has been the best time we've had rocking together. When we recorded the CD we knew we had a good take when it hit us in the gut, rather than thinking about things in a way like 'Okay, here comes this part, and I'm going to do this thing I've worked out for hours until all the spontaneity and life have been sucked out of it." He laughs. "Instead, we went 'Yeah, this feels right!' when we had a strong take we all liked, which most often was the first or second take. Anything after that, we were kind of repeating ourselves." "The response to the music and band has been great!" says Drummer/Backing Vocalist Mike Martino. "Yeah, we definitely tried to keep that live feel, even on a slower song like 'Fools,' which is probably my favorite. It's a little slower than the other songs, tempo-wise, but it definitely has that crackling energy." Together with Bassist Bob Bergeron, the power-trio kicks into high gear. Lon adds: "Bob's a melodic madman and probably the loudest bassist I've ever heard! With Mike's thunder foot and Bob on bass it's really a blast! We've all known each other since right after high school, so we know how to groove and build off of each other's playing." Mastered by Jonathan Wyner, whose talents can be heard in the music of Aerosmith, David Bowie, Aimee Mann, and others, "The Space Sharks" sound is crisp and big. Slap on a pair of headphones for trippy panning effects and swirling guitars. It's The Space Sharks at their best. Yeah, baby!
