Sparki started life as your average school kid living in Thanet hanging around with mates and playing football. He started to listen to a lot of dance music when he was very young (2 Bad Mice, The Prodigy, LTJ Bukem) and instantly liked the sound. As time went on he discovered pirate radio and picked up a lot of what was real music instead of the usual commercial pop records that were clogging up the charts.
Sparki comes from a musical family, his granddad was a drummer and his great uncle was a country singer. He always had a flare for producing tracks and mixing records. He first started out with a pair of homemix cd decks doing mixtapes for mates.
In 2004 he got a laptop and started producing using Fruity Loops. He joined Pie Factory Music in the autumn of 2005 and was given tuition and advice on how to improve making tunes. As time went along he got considerably better, and landed his track “Gnarler” on the Pie Factory Music Records compilation, called: The Zone A Piece of The Pie. This formed a breakthrough for Sparki who began getting a lot of interest. He kept at his producing in the hard times (having no luck with getting jobs and losing his granddad in early 2006 R.I.P) and the tracks he made sounded how he generally felt at the time.
Sparki mainly produces drum n bass, but also produces: hardcore, house, hard house, trance and other forms of dance music. His brief for making tracks is ‘anything that sounds wicked’. He experiments a lot and this helps him to a lot of more adventurous dance music fans. On May 14th 2007 at 2.14am Sparki’s track “A Force To Be Reckoned With” was played on Annie Nightingale’s breakbeat show. This track was a very dark tune with a lot emphasis on bassline, harsh beats and ripped conversation like samples from old records or obscure films. He is currently working with singers on new material, and welcomes any interest from promoters, labels and DJ’s.
