Over the past four years The Speakeasies have been as well a kept secret as their underground namesakes. But, much like the liquor lockers of the nineteen thirties, they are far from unknown. With their new record 'better side of not so good' the Guelph based rock quartet has made the transition from limelight to spotlight without so much as missing a beat. With their relentless gigging and touring, the band has been able to impress its ever growing fan base with its unique, raw, melodic power, something they've shared with audiences across this great country as well as with many south of the border. It is then no wonder that they've captured numerous voters choice awards including Echo Weekly's "band most likely to make it " and 105.3 KoolFM's "KW's Koolest Band", as well as Craig Norris' "song of the day" on CBC radio 3 with their radio single 'Come On'. If you haven't had the pleasure yet, don't fret; there's little chance of these warriors throwing in the towel. Because if prohibition taught us anything, it's that wherever there is a demand, there will always be those to deliver.

Rock the mill is looking for volunteers to help make sure the whole day runs smoothly.
Volunteer, and you might even get the chance to meet some of the bands on the bill!
If you know anyone over age 14 who is looking for hours, get them to send us a message on Myspace or Facebook, or an email to our volunteer coordinator at elyshasch@gmail.com.
ANYONE interested over 14 can volunteer. Younger siblings, cousins, neighbours and friends looking for volunteer hours; we've even had parents come out in the past and oversee things to make sure the day is safe.
If possible, please refer someone you know. We really appreciate the support!
