This have been an exciting week. Both "Rope or Guillotine" and "I, Fail" got released on vinyl in the U.S.A.
The Spectacle was a DIY punk band from Norway. They put out two full-length CDs on CrimethInc and toured the US once and Europe several times. Last year they broke up, but the saga continues. Phil Elverum (The Microphones/Mt. Eerie) refused to let The Spectacle rest in peace and became quite obsessed with their first full-length "Rope or Guillotine" and wanted to re-press it on his own label P.W. Elverum & Sun. The Spectacle was not completely satisfied with how the recording sounded on the Crimethinc CD (and the european LP-version) so they went back into the studio in august and september 2006 and re-mixed the whole thing. Phil then mastered it in the USA. Now it is out with 100% new artwork (screen printed and letter pressed sleeves by Phil himself) + a new booklet. pressed in only 492 copies.

The Iowa label Scenester Credentials did also put out "I, Fail" as a 2xLP this week. It is quite similar to the europan vinyl-pressing, but the cover got a new color-scheme that looks amazing. It comes with a huge poster insert. 100 copies on colored vinyl and 400 copies on black vinyl.

2007 will be an exciting year; Since most The Spectacle vinyl are out-of-print at this point our friends at Scene Credentials in Iowa are doing a re-press of the "I, Fail" 2xLP complete with a new color-scheme. By coincidence P.W. Elverum & Sun are doing their own version of the "Rope or Guillotine" LP with new handscreened artwork, re-mixed, re-mastered.
Also check out BEYOND THE FENCES, , they just released a smashing 10" and includes Kjetil from The Spectacle on vocal. A very good band.

Today early in the mornig a security agency that wast hired by the new owner of the homestall of Milada, the last Prague's squat, attacked the squat and tried to evict it. Without the assistance of the police, they destroyed the front door and started to destroy the interier of Milada while the squatter barricaded themselves on the roof of the building. The agency, whose empoyees are wearing Thor Steinar clothes (nazi clothing company), attacked the squatters with teargas and started destroying the roof from inside which meant danger of injury for the squatters locked on the roof. Later the police arrived as well as about 100 of Milada supporters. The area around the building was closed by the police and the protesting crowd was pushed outside of it. Tens of riotcops armed with telescopic battons are on the place holding people away from the building that is being demolitioned inside by the agency. Few people were already arrested. Minimally one person was injured. The squatters are expecting a police attack in the night.
