    In a musical landscape of bands attempting to emulate their British counterparts, The Spirits establish their sound as distinctively Australian with an expansive style reminiscent of 80's post punk/new wave genres, haunting in mood and theatrical in performance. Their sophomore work, The RED EP, was released in March 2011, and includes the single 'Going, Going'. The RED EP tells a story of love and madness; be it dust storms turning a city red, the numbing cold of the highlands, or the concrete jungles of our coastal cities, each song explores an emotional struggle reflected in the surrounding landscape. Desire and regret, insecurity and relationships, love and mental illness, are all treated with an almost claustrophobic honesty, while the band's music conjures images of vast country, oceans and abysses.
