The Splendor is a brand new jazz quartet based in Gothenburg, Sweden. “Impelling jazz, tight with sentiment and of absolute world-class” wrote Patrik Lindgren of the Swedish
music magazine Lira, when the group’s debut album "Sound of Splendor" was released in April on Hoob Records.
The Splendor has slowly developed from a vague conceptual idea of creating music based on a sound, where each of the members’ references and musical impressions are represented. The focal point is the collective creation and the unique inspiration that comes out of not knowing where the music is heading.
The style is acoustic jazz with elements of live electronics. Based on short themes or longer compositions, the Splendor builds the music on improvisation and a free and inquisitive attitude. The group creates an intense and open atmosphere where each member plays a big role with his or her individual expression. Lisen Rylander is the leader of the band and the composer of most songs.
