i like falling over and playing on bikes, so i like mountain biking which neatly
combines the two.
i like people who don't take themselves too seriously and like messing
about, which is why i love the spokes!
i want a bike with wheels of fire, i will make it happen
Joanna,
Student
Jo is small but tough and definitely adds finesse. She is a fantastic flyer
in our balances and pyramids and has a great eye for detail in planning routines.
She studies politics and is a member of The Riveters, a women's society at university
that promotes women's rights. Jo and Nes used to go horse riding together when
they were tiny children but hadn't seen each other again until Jo came with
Emily to a Spokes practice!!!
Emma,
27 Schools Environment Education Worker
Emma is a fantastic and passionate woman that's always busy but whether she's
organising a No Borders event or doing yoga she'll always make time for a cup
of tea and a friendly natter. Emma is The Spokes DJ and will be playing music
on the pedal powered bike soundsystem that her and Nes are making. She will
also throw in some ace moves too.

The Bicycle:
"The bicycle has been responsible for more movement in manners and morals than anything since Charles the Second. Under it's influence, wholly or in part, have wilted chaperons, long and narrow skirts, tight corsets, hair that would come down, black stockings, thick ankles large hats, prudery and fear of the dark; under its influence, wholly or in part, have bloomed weekends, strong nerves, strong legs, strong language, knickers, knowledge of make and shape, knowledge of woods and pastures, equality of sex, good digestion and professional occupation- in four words, the emancipation of women." (Galsworthy, 1890) |
