Stepping through the archway into the small alley nestled between Café 4 and Tomato Head in downtown Knoxville’s Historic Market Square district, one can’t help but get the feeling that something unexpected lies behind the doors of the Square Room. The large sign, glowing with blue lights points the way to the main entrance of Knoxville’s very own listening room.

Not only is the Square Room warm and welcoming with dark wood floors, high ceilings exposing support beams, an entire wall of glass with a view of Café 4, but also, the Square Room is a state-of-the-art performance venue that provides an intimate stage showcasing international, national, and regional touring acts of multiple genres of music.

It is housed in the rear of the 4 Market Square Building along with its counterpart Café 4, a full-service restaurant and coffee bar, making an evening at 4 Market Square one to be remembered. With a capacity of up to 600, a variety of seating arrangements including tables for 4, extensive organic wine & beer lists, friendly staff whose main goal is building community in a hospitable space with a line-up of incredible artists, the Square Room offers a live music experience unparalleled by any other venue in the area.

Each performance at the Square Room has a setting unique to the audience in order to afford music fans of all ages the opportunity to enjoy every aspect of a live show. The combination of the intimate setting, top-of-the-line sound, lighting & video equipment make the Square Room, Knoxville’s must-visit venue.

From singer-songwriters to modern rockers and jazz legends to the stars of the local scene, we believe that great music deserves a great audience, and a great audience deserves a great venue.
