If you want something done right, you do it yourself. That's the mindset adopted by Hans v when he started work on One, the debut EP from his project The Standalone. Forgoing a studio, producer, and an actual "band," he started writing for his first musical endeavor himself. The end result mixes melodic alternative and Portland indie DIY sensibilities with positive and pensive lyrics.
The Standalone is the one-man melodic alternative band of Hans van de Bruggen. The music mixes full guitars with thick harmonies, with melody always at the core. The sound has been compared to Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Mae, and Copeland. He is joined live by a rotating band which includes Tyson Kingrey (guitar/vocals), Scott Funkhouser (bass/keys/vocals), Todd Dahlhoff (bass/keys/vocals), and Harrison Edwards (drums).

Yeah tornadoes aren't my cup of tea. I hate them alot. We have a lot of drills and alarms for them. Their annoying.....LOL
I do have eyes there big and brown... I just wish I could someday see what it's like up there with them. I've seen pictures but I bet it doesn't compare to the real thing.
Well once you get everything together with your music you should come to Arkansas just not in May cause that's tornado season.....LOL
Ha ha I thought rednecks lived in the south LOL that's funny.
well what is making me ask is, i have been really wanting to that part of the U.S for a long time.
lol...that is weird. i live in Arkansas, it hardly ever snows here. we get the freezing rain and the tornadoes,,,,bleh. i love snow alot. its my favorite weather.
does The Standalone Tour? or do you tour? i love going to shows. its like the only thing to do down here.
oh and one more question...lol are there red necks in oregon?
no i dont play anything. i know music. i know alot about music, but i don't play. its one of my favorite creations in the whole world. however my boyfriend cory was in a band called annabelle. he played the drums and they were very popular in little rock. they got to play with all sorts of good bands like underoath and for today and horse the band and pmtoday. they broke up a while back and now he writes his own stuff too. i have to ask though, does it snow alot in oregon? lol
thanks for your add... Your music is really nice, i'm impressed. I'm not in class today... in case you didn't notice. I got a rematch of this cold i'm trying to fight off and i'm going to try to shake it for good this time.
