About me: Errol Lawson Managing Director of Higher Level Music founded the STAR Awards in 2005. A fantastic team of 7 highly skilled and highly motivated people now co-ordinate the event. The STAR Awards is designed to discover and celebrate the unsigned and unheard singing/ songwriting talent in the UK's Gospel Music industry.
Each year we search the country for the UK€™s finest Gospel talent and provide individuals with an opportunity to showcase their talents and get recognised.
Each year the event goes from strength to strength and more and more Artists are being given the opportunity to showcase their talent.
It is our Vision that, as a result of the talent search taking place and the partnerships that are formed, increasingly more radio stations around the UK will play more Gospel music. The standard of Gospel music will rise and more opportunities will be created for people involved in the industry.
Other visionaries and pioneers will see what we are doing and offer additional support to the Artists to ensure that they are receiving a holistic support package.
In our vision we also see purpose-built venues and Art centres all around the country dedicated to the development of Gospel Artists and musicians.
These buildings will have the facility to record, rehearse and perform. These state-of-the-art buildings will be places where people can come in off the street into a safe environment, loving environment.
We see an explosion of publications, businesses, TV and radio stations all supporting each other to promote the message of the Kingdom.

Who I'd like to meet: MIGHTY & SEYI: ‘SEEK YE FIRST’ SINGLE RELEASE…
Young, talented and innovative: Just three words that describe new Urban outfit, Mighty and Seyi. Having received much critical acclaim and success on the live music circuit over the last two years, Mighty and Seyi have also won multiple awards (including Sony BMG Talent Search and Star Award 2007).
Originally hailing from London, the group have performed at a variety of venues and events throughout the UK, including the O2 Arena and Bolton’s Reebok Stadium. They have also shared the stage with Gospel music’s top artists such as Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and Mary Mary.
The dynamic duo are now on the verge of releasing their first single, ‘Seek Ye First’. Fusing together diverse genres, from RnB jams to Bassline flavours, Mighty and Seyi deliver something new on each track, combining powerful lyrics with soulful vocals plus groundbreaking beats to bring three unique remixes. Furthermore, they aim to empower a troubled generation to seek God first in order to make changes.
Together forming possibly one of the strongest tag-teams on the UK Urban Gospel scene, Mighty and Seyi are a force to be reckoned with. This current project is set to fire up the music industry this summer and make playlists of top DJs nationwide. Judging from their track record of achievement, we can expect nothing less than great things from Mighty and Seyi in the future.
