The Starliters
Hillibilly Bop, Rockabilly, Western Swing outfit From Milano-Italy, guys raised up in noticeable rockin' bands like "TRIBAL BOPS" (two 12" and a 7" on Rockhouse) as well as the "HI-TONE TRIO". They have been performing since 1995, featuring in a lot of important european R'n'R meetings: two times at Silvester Shodown in Gunzburg, Jitterbug Records Festival in Hannover, Rockabilly Meeting in Barcelona (Spain ), Bourges (France) and toured all over Europe. They cutted"Dig boy Dig", a splitted 10 inch album with the Tennessee Boys, for Tail Records in october 1996.During the summer of '98, the original guitar player switched to lead vocals and they joined Frank on lead guitar. With this outfit The Starliters recorded their first E.P. for Favourite Records "Feelin'like a Star" and the 10 inch "Pickin'up Speed " for Tail Records; Member of the Band also featured with other artists. The Steel guitar player as guest in Ike and the Capers Recordings; the bass player backing the tours of the american piano players Mitch Wood and Steve Lucky . The Starliters appeared at the 3rd Rockabilly Rave in november 1998 as well as at the Rhythm Riot in 2000, two of the most important R'n'R meetings worldwide. As ROBERT GORDON backing band they performed at the Silvester party in Zurich (1999) and during his Italian Tour (2000) as well as at the Tennesssee Club in London in march 2001. After the gig at the 21th Hemsby Rock'n'Roll Weekender in May 2001, the great guitar player FRANK quit the Band while the new 7 inch "Honky tonk Guitar child" recorded for the japanese Label "On th Hill" is coming out; so the Starliters becomes a 4 pieces outfit. During a Swedish tour in August 2001 they cutted the New album on CD "Lightin the Stars" for Tail Records, with the extra contribution of a Guitar player and the Swedish Piano player BOPPIN' STEVE. After lotta gigs, promotig the new Recors even CORRADO the drummer quit with the band (May 2002) and FRANK D (once with the Hi-tone Trio) take his place. Lots of gigs all over Europe and a bunch of new boppin' numbers; their explosive end show at Rave 2003 in England, put the Starliters at the higlight of the rockabilly scene. It's 2004 and the Starliters are still rockin! They featured at the fantastic Hangar Rock Meeting in Switzerland backing as well the well known texan singer Marty Broom. ...one more with lady Broom at the Munich Rockabilly meeting 2004 through the september High Rockabilly in Calafell - Spain. The Starliters also featured the program of the 3rd Portugal Haloa august 2006, and backed mister Marvin Rainwater at the Frog & Roll Weekend september 2006 in France. In september 2007 while in Tour (Switzerland) with the texan queen of Rockabilly "Marty Brom", The Starliters are plannig a new Record for the Spanish Label "El Toro Records". A super gig in Berlin - Germany (Hot Rod Decadence 06 october 2007), and a Lot of small Tour between Belgum Germany and Holland,. Featuring at the most important 2008 European R'n'R Festivals with a new Album on El Toro Records Spain, and their version of Rock'n'Roll Fever on the cool Blue Lake Records CD Sampler: Lake Rattle & Roll Vol. 1 BLR-CD 06.

Con l‟uscita, sul finire del 2008, dell‟album “Stop kidding” per l‟etichetta spagnola “El Toro Records”, gli Starliters confermano la loro attitudine ad un Rockabilly, che pur rimanendo energico nell‟approccio, è andato evolvendosi, nel corso della loro lunga e vivace carriera verso le matrici del loro genere fatte di country, Hillbilly Bogie, Honky Tonk e Western Swing. Musicisti di lunga esperienza, (alcuni sono membri degli storici The Tribal Bops degli anni „80 ) sin dagli inizi, nel ‟97 i componenti della Band avevano dimostrato di rifuggere la banalità di una semplice riproposizione revilvalistica di un trito repertorio rock‟n‟roll anni 50 fatto di facili Hits . La scelta di caratterizzare il sound in senso “tradizionale” con l‟uso della Steel Guitar, in concomitanza con ricerca di brani ed artisti oscuri prodotti da piccole labels che tra i finire dei ‟40 e l‟inzio dei ‟50 costituivano il terreno di coltura del nascente rock‟n‟roll, unita ad una selezionata dose di Country, ed una apprezzabile perizia strumentale hanno generato i sound degli Starliters e fatto si che anche le molte composizioni autografe non fossero dei semplici “Rip Off” di successi classici, ma una alternativa a questi. Questo sforzo è stato premiato nel corso della loro carriera con numerose incisioni per prestigiose etichette estere, una fitta attività live e la partecipazione a tutti i più importanti festival Rock‟n‟Roll europei. Il loro raffinato live act. sempre animato da una solida energia rock‟n‟roll, ha riscosso ovunque successo di pubblico e critica. Attraversata l‟Europa in lungo e in largo ne corso di svariati Tour, gli Starliters si sono sempre distinti fra i cultori del genere per autenticità e professionalità nella cura della musica e dell‟immagine. Rockabilly Rave (UK), High rockabilly, Rythm Riot (UK), Hangar Rockin (CH), Rockin‟ in Tournaut (B), Tear It Up (CR), Portugal Aloha (PG), Sjiock Festival (B), Blue Kats Party (F), Rockabilly Allnighter (D), Old Style Weekend (CH), Rockabilly Round up (NL), Kustm Weekend (I), Summer Jamboree (I), Scandinavian Country Music Festival (S), sono alcuni dei meeting cui gli Starliters hanno più volte partecipato, anche come headliners. Oltre ad aver aperto i concerti di Wanda Jackson, Sam Butera, Restless e molti altri, i membri della band vantano cospicue collaborazioni con artisti della scena Rock‟n‟Nroll e Blues del calibro degli americani Marvin Rainwater, Robert Gordon, Marty Brom, Sonny Burgess, Steve Lucky, Mitch Wood, dello svedese Boppin‟ Steve, degli italiani Marco Di Maggio e Rockin‟ Bonnie per citarne alcuni. La discografia degli Starliters si è sviluppata nel corso degli anni tra la Germania, la Svezia, il Giappone e la Spagna laddove al rockabilly di qualità una alternativa reale alle mode imperanti dettate dalle majors . Anche se divertenti, gli Starliters non sono gente che scherza: coadiuvati da un imponente uso di alcolici, Max (Voce e chitarra), Serge (steel Guitar), Bobby Vain (Contrabbasso) e Frank Dee (Voce e Batteria) si preparano all‟incisione del prossimo disco dopo una stagione che li vedrà ancora protagonisti sui palchi di tutta Europa.
