The Static Jacks, a fresh-faced indie garage quintet from New Jersey, are pleased to announce the release of their debut EP, Laces. The self-released EP features five brand new tracks that resonate influences ranging from 1980s punk to current indie pop music. This young band – all but one are 19 - has taken the better half of this year to explore their sound, bringing Andrew Maury (RAC/Live Sound Engineer for Ra Ra Riot) into the studio for his producing debut. The result is an album that fully represents the band’s vibrant live sound and has been featured on MTV’s The Hills and The City.
Reception for Laces has been warm since the September release of their free download, "My Parents Lied", on RCRDLBL and AbsolutePunk.net. The five tracks have been described as "deadly infectious [with a] stellar musical tightness, a cool laid back swagger and an instant replay value (The Fire Note 9/11/09)". Featuring stomp-clap beats, mesmerizing layers of guitar rhythm and deep sandpaper vocals, The Static Jacks cast off the computer-based trends of modern music makers to reveal raw, honest lyrics and youthful energy.
“These guys are being brave enough to explore lots of new musical territory at an early age, which is always a good sign.”

“[Laces] takes a straight forward classic sound of early 80's punk and blends it with a modern New York Strokes vibe. This combo is deadly infectious, as the Laces EP contains five songs that have a stellar musical tightness, a cool laid back swagger and an instant replay value… The Static Jacks rekindle the feelings of why we always refer back to bands like The Jam, Velvet Underground or The Clash. This synergy is very present with The Static Jacks and the Laces EP continues the hype for this Generation Y band, that should erupt upwards in preparation for an eventual full length!” - The Fire Note (Full Article +)
“Parties and Friends (and bullshit)" is arguably one of the year's best songs and has the arresting, can't-resist charm of Vampire Weekend's "Oxford Comma."…My Parents Lied" [is] a mix of angst, sandpapery vocals and catchiness; "Revolver" begins rather promising and ends effectively; and "Who Are The Replacements?" [is] a cheeky number that is replete with layers of guitars, a chugging rhythm section and a pointed nod to 70s punk. Ripe with confidence, polish, and a maturity that belies their age, The Static Jacks are more than worth the attention and the accolades.” - AbsolutePunk (Full Article +)
