Fans of psychedelic folk are, this spring, in for a little luxury. Following an intense creative sabbatical ‘The Steals’ are set to make their eagerly awaited return as singer Jayn Hanna finally turns the page on the newest chapter in her diverse musical journey. This latest project sees a fascinating rekindling of a long-standing musical union with Mark Peters of ‘Engineers’ notoriety, alongside Alex Crawshaw on bass and Chris Smith on drums.
Powerful song-writing, big guitars, achingly detailed production and hauntingly melodic vocals are the tangibles on The Steals checklist - their inimitable sound has had critics juggling nouns, verbs and adjectives while vainly searching for fitting descriptions; when hearing them, you’ll quickly understand why.
The Steals brand of electronic folk, places them in a category, all of their own. If the epic ‘Golden’, and the equally stunning, ‘All coming back’ are anything to go by, this latest, meticulously-crafted album - largely completed in a San Francisco studio - looks set to mesmerise the senses in a manner fans of The Steals' have come to expect; unpretentious, humble, unfettered by ego, they are passionately driven to create mysterious, soul-cleansing, heart-breaking, life-affirming music.

EP REVIEWS:
"There is something nocturnal and passionately dark about this music, that grabs at your emotions so much you can hear the rapid beating of your own heart." ......INFUSED Magazine
"Delicate and strong and breathtakingly warm and soulful and melodic and rather haunting and slightly folky in a dreamy creamy misty early morning kind of way. Sultry slowburning blues-rock undertone, laid back slide guitars, mellow creamy blues rock and Jayn Hanna has a powerful angelic voice that really is just perfect ,simmering beauty, glowing, warm, mellow and just right" ........ORGAN Magazine
"The breathy, airy vocals on some of the songs will make you feel as if you've been transported to the Yorkshire moors on a fog-filled frosty autumnal morning"......ALTERNATIVE CUTS
"With its moody basslines, simple yet emotive drumming and sublime vocals, the Floodlights EP is a collection of tracks with a wonderful melodic, layered sound".......ANOTHER LATE NIGHT
"A wonderfully lush release, full of soul and the sort of melody that haunts you forever more"...... SUBBA-CULTCHA
"Mysterious, dark, lonely the vocals of singer jayn hanna are tumbling through the six songs, while some subdued guitar lines paint pictures of lost highways into the night - Intense!".....BLOOM magazine
LIVE REVIEWS:
"With her long, love-child hair, waifish build and haunting, lilting voice, The Steal's vocalist could have stepped from the fields of 1960s Woodstock and into the beer tent at Wychwood with incredible ease"...... Wychwood Festival - GLOUSTERSHIRE ECHO
"Dusky vocals peak and plummet against a minimal backdrop of guitars and reverb and the set flows with a grace that seems beyond rehearsal. Give It All Back is a work of ethereal beauty......The Steals are by no means ones to shake you by the throat, but with performances like this they might just sneak up on you unnoticed and leave you enthralled".......Night And Day - SOUNDS OF THE CITY
"an astounding afternoon set is put on by The Steals, who's female singer, all elegant litheness and long ginger hair, has a voice that draws people in from the immediate surroundings..... her songs are tremendous too, and the overall, sustained effect is of a rare beauty to behold. The Steals are certainly on the list of previously unknown bands who's music I'll definitely pursue after the festival, absolutely mesmerising and fantastic."....Secret Garden Party - MUSIC OHM
"The Steals are the very epitomy of 21st Century folk gone electric.... Hanna's exceptionally long hair makes her look like a modern damsel in distress as she calls out across the airwaves - exceptional stuff indeed" .....MANCHESTER MUSIC

I must admit i hadn't checked in on you guys for a while. Most days i visit now. I liked your music from the start and this direction you're taking, gorgeous soundscapes and emotive phrasing of the lyrics is stunning. I can't wait to own the album and play it proper loud (my computer's speakers are quite pathetic). Just thought i'd tell you Chris
