Hey....... I'm hangin' at a friends house who has a computer and he is off to a rehearsal for an hour. As you rank pretty high in "priority", let me try to compose a few words for several purposes. One is the Zip web site, the other purpose relates to some printed stuff to get out in the next round of follow ups.
First of all, I had a real fine MIDEM in Cannes earlier in the week. 20 hour days, lots of love, music and baguettes. I did a bunch of things for the album including some fruitful talks with a pal who is the Asian manager for an German record label (G POP). He likes the album and will be advocating to the Hamburg bosses for some Asian action for the album as well. Other options exist, but due to economic hardship, the Zip Euro distributor )Shellshock) was not at MIDEM. A few other companies I've been doing business with didn't attend this time either, but their loss!
It also looks like Zip will be working with an Italian "Spegetti Western" band and coordinating their release with a cool Greek label.
I rubbed shoulders with Charles Aznevor and Katy Perry and also spent some platonically charged time with the beautiful and talented (5 in India!) Laura Critchley (ouch!)Obviously, www.lauracritchley.com
I arrived back from Marseille this afternoon (one hell of a great place)to Amsterdam. I flipped on the TV to see if the cable was hooked up and guess what? A German TV station came on AND "LOOKS GOOD IN LEATHER" WAS ON THE AXE COMMERCIAL!! No kidding. It is probably one every five minutes - the ad has some cave man cartoon drawings and the AXE guys are hyping a leather scent, I believe. It is time to cash in on this BABY - starting with the remix and ending with a bona fide single. Can't miss and we'll talk as soon as i return.
By the way, the four weeks between mid December and mid January were chaotic - trying to move was a bigger proposition than expected. It won't get much better for awhile, given the amount of catch-up stuff to deal with, but we'll grind our heels on Good Hurt and move that thing to the limelight.
OK... in the next 20 minutes I'm going to magically write some "promo" material. Please look it over and get back with any suggestions. I will be at the new "Zip Records Holland" office on Monday, so i should be able to check e-mail a that time.
Here goes....
The Sterling EXP (EXP stands for EXPLOSION!) is out of control! The main dude, Sterling, has L.A. in a tizzy about his new album "Good Hurt". Forget rumors.... there have been verified sightings of Sterling in the new "My Chemical Romance" music video/movie preview (PLEASE EXPLAIN). We hear both are coming out soon.
Continuing our L.A. theme, can we talk about the typical Sterling fan? The beautiful Natassja Kinski has been palling around with Zip's new rock and soul hitmaker! The talented Pamela Hasselhoff (known for acting prowess in Germany and a divorcee of David here in America!) is more than a fan but we'll leave the gossip to the experts and/or a future story.
For all we know, Kobe Bryant may become a spokesman for Sterling. At least he promises to give the disc a listen and do a double dribble for the anthem of the decade, "Louder". Wow. SO many celebrities - and did we mention the "Mama's and the Papa's" Michelle Philips? Oh....... she's only the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of the Sterling EXP album. No kidding! China Phillips is in his charmed life as well.
Das is not all. Those lucky German fans are now hearing Sterling's "Looks Good in Leather" in an AXE deoderant commercial on TV! About every freakin' ten minutes! Berlin's KISS FM has remixed the same track so they can play the f... out of the song on German radio.
Zip Recods has, in past years, rubed shoulders with legands like Keane, Cheap Trick, Iron Maiden, Bush, Lisa Loeb and ? and the Mysterians, but now we're mired in the movers and shakers in the City of Angels like never before.
Breathing the same air as sexy Hollywood vixens is what we like!
Sterling may be dating the stars, but he dares to go green as well. Let it be known that instead of limo's, his preferred mode of transportation is a bicycle. In L.A.? Eschewing the tinted windows and eight door vehicles for a working mans lifestyle, Sterling is a throwback to a time when artists would risk life and limb for fame and fortune.
When you hear "Good Hurt", Sterling's debut CD on Zip Records, you will see why Sterling has it all. And how can hwe forget!? The first track ("Dreamin" was co-written with Fab Morvain of Milli Vanailli!! Other equal notables show up on the album as well.
We're on the very verge of announcing even more movies, sightings, Hollywood stars, commercials, gigs and some Euro action that will make your Bratwurst hurt so good! And think about buying some of his songs - each one is a hit, from funk to soul to groovin' R & B influenced pop. It's all happening on "Good Hurt" Get some action!
