Influenced early in his childhood by big band sounds and Chicago blues, Steve Potter has always "felt the blues". He loves keeping the music simple - not wordy - with a big tone and a lot of feeling. "It’s gotta swing, it’s all about the music" he says.
Steve began playing in 1982 in the Washington DC area and has played solo, in duos, trios, four piece, and five piece bands since then in different venues on the east coast.
Sharing the stage with other blues musicians such as Kenny Neal, Mark Wenner and the Nighthawks and opening at the Syracuse Blues Festival last summer for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Steve has proved to be an exciting and charismatic "new-age" bluesman.
His CD "Grotto Says!" is receiving rave reviews from his fans and CD reviewer Steve "Big Daddy" Harvell who says: "This is by far the very best blues harmonica CD that I have received this year. I’m pretty darn sure it will be in my "TOP TEN BEST OF THE YEAR" come this December". This is his second CD - the first, "Jump Back Baby" was released in 1999. He has original material on each CD and other songs include tributes to the masters of the past.
As Steve always says, "It’s in me and it’s GOT to come out".
