With influences ranging from Radiohead to Between the Buried & Me and from Coheed and Cambria to the Arcade Fire, The Still Life is slowly carving their own spot in the Austin scene. Their piano-led self proclaimed "popcore" is an experience all its own and their originality and energy wins over fans every show. Since their first public show in May 2005, they have played shows with bands like Royden, The Stilletto Formal and Bless the Fall as well as popular local bands like Hundred Year Storm and Driver F. With at least 1 new cd in the works, these young fellas are striving to be something more than your typical rock band.

The Still Life is the creative synthesis of guitarist Sam Buchanan's Emo* bent, Bassist John McEntire's metal roots**, Drummer Bryson Reynolds' romantics**, and Lead singer and keyboardist Ben Rowe's indi-art-rock flavour****.
*Note: Sam is not actually Emo. It is a degrading term use by the other members due to thier jealousy of his stature with the ladies and/or his social standing. Mostly he makes the others uneasy with his uncanny knack for being cool. Always. Just look at him. End of story.
**Note: John's roots are actually in oldies, and possibly some chick pop, we are unsure, this rumor has yet to be confirmed. The earliest documented incarnation of this band, however, was when he and ex-guitarist (but eternal pimp) Luke Prochnow picked up complimentary instruments in order to follow Iron Maiden after learning how to imitate their god-like vocalist. This is confirmed.
***Edit: If any controversy still remains, let it be set straight that if the new year's incident is not proof enough, just observe and decide for yourself. It is true that some side with that pasty white boy in his error, and because of this democracy, a compromise has occured. Still Life is home to two romantics, the hopeless romantic and the successful. It is up to you to decide.
****Note: We are not sure if Ben listens to music. As shocking as it is, do not be alarmed, it is, at this point, only a rumor. It was previously unknown if he even posessed ears.
