experimental soul music done by two ecentric madhats..Esam Salleh and Kamal Yacob ..formed in 1990.. The original line up of Esam on vocals, Kamal on guitars , Matthew on bass and Maazrin on drums changed with Matthew quitting the band and Kamal went on bass duties..Right before the release of their debut demo "Soul Detergent" which was funded by their mentor Joe Ng from the Padres in 1995, whose single "Teenage Queen" was featured on Eric Khoo's acclaimed film "Mee Pok Man", Maazrin left migrating to the Gold Coast thus bringing in Syed Ahmad on drums..this line up was further beefed up as the band pursued their experimental side with the addition of Faradiba on backup vocals, Hairul on trumpets, Mostamom ..keyboards and Syed Munir on guitars in 1997. The band did various movie soundtracks and hit the masses with their biggest 1 hit "Goodil" in 1997 from the movie "12 Storeys" by renowned director Eric Khoo. They were then hand picked by No Doubt to open for their Singapore concert at the Indoor Stadium. The band streamlined to the classic four man line up which gave the album "Golden Lovesongs from the Evil Island of the Handsome Tropical Cannibals", an album credited as being ahead of it's time, experimenting with soul, jazz, funk, disco, rock, blues, bossa and anything in between..This album spawned the 1 "Stoned Alleycat" which went top spot on two radio stations nationwide concurrently and won them the "Top Local English Song" award by Composers Association of Singapore in 2001. The band went their seperate ways in 2001 with Esam and Ahmad continuing carrying the Stoned banner..Munir went on to join hip hop group Urban Exchange while Kamal tried his hand at playing in the band Absinthe and later scum rock band Johnnie Shameless and his Minions..Esam joined forces with surf punks Force Vomit which then led to him forming his experimental solo outfit Slowjaxx and the Death of Lounge Orkes which accidently became a full blown outfit called Slowjaxx Does Dallas, boasting past and present members of Force Vomit in it's ranks. This unit then became known simply as Slowjaxx when he moved to Kuala Lumpur in 2006 with 400 bucks , his guitar and a bag of clothes to find himself..This migration of sorts brought upon the Kuala Lumpur chapter of the Stoned Revivals..which had Alang from M.U.Z.E on drums..later joined by Haekel from Aloe in a Bottle on bass and Jeffny from Komplot on saxophones. This KL line up went on to experiment with Canadian emcee Vandal on his Hip hop night "Think U Got Skills" playing live experimental hip hop onstage..backed by Illsteez on samples..Syed Ahmad went on to join art rock band Tiramisu, noise band Disko Biskits and also Wicked Aura Batucada which dabbles in samba percussion music..this led to him forming his own 200 man strong percussion unit Bloco Singapura in 2008..and Syed Munir joined him on guitars in Novo Bloco , a band that plays alongside Bloco Singapura..All this while still retaining the core two man member of the Stoned Revivals which is Esam and Syed Ahmad on songwriting duties..seeing them contributing on movies such as "Chicken Rice War" as a duo of sorts.
In 2009 exactly 10 years of not playing together as a whole onstage, the classic 1999 line up of the band has decided to reform and make a proper studio album as a gift to their fans , friends and fiends alike..
Their first time playing together live was for the Even Ruder gig at Esplanade which then led to their Tv appearance on Live and Loaded singing an unreleased track "Soundtracks of our lives" and "The New Way" which was from the "For Good" compilation..
Despite various line up changes..the band has managed to maintain their early punk/d.i.y ethics in doin music spanning their almost 20 years gigging and writing music for e masses and various indie/local film soundtracks..Having worked with various musicians for live gigs like djs, horn sections, sax players,a full orchestra and anythin that shines under the sun..with influences ranging from jobim , mother earth, blacksploitation music,porn sountracks,sex pistols,zero7.. from funk to soul to dub to punk to porn to chillout.. the full force of the stoned revivals musical propaganda has yet been fully unleashed ...

Your funk is really authentic, reminds of a time long-forgotten in which people we happy with so little and love existed, not like today!
