The Stormalongs are a band formed by Colin James Gibson (vocals/guitar), Adam Morello (guitar/vocals), Nick Gaiser (drums), and Matt Thompson (bass/vocals) in 2007 in Toronto, Canada. They play distorted, melodic, atmospheric rock music with a good dose of volume. Their songs combine raw sonic force, textural lushness, and lyrical depth with classic rock song-craft. They have played together in various forms since adolescence, and as a result they have a unique and exciting chemistry that comes from years of musical collaboration. Their performances are electric and compelling, and have been described as “powerful”, “blistering” and “adrenaline-filled”.
After honing their sound through a series of studio demos, and countless live performances at well-known venues, The Stormalongs recorded their first album ‘Fell Like Bricks’ in spring 2009. The album was recorded during a four-day session, and was produced and mixed by the legendary Dale Morningstar at Toronto’s equally legendary Gas Station Studio, and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering.
‘Fell Like Bricks’ is an epic, powerful, electric beauty of melodic song-craft: entrancing rhythms, distorted freak-out shape-shifting guitars, growling fuzz-bass and human voices, wrapped in heavy atmospheric beauty. The songs are deep and resonant, pounding and tranquil at the same time. Recording with Morningstar at his renowned island studio gave the band an inspiring setting in which to fully capture the energy and power of their sound, resulting in an album that is striking and majestic. CBC 3/New Music Canada said of ‘Fell Like Bricks’: "Toronto classic alt-rock band, The Stormalongs, have released a powerful & high energy debut album. “Fell Like Bricks” is multi-textured, catchy and well worth listening to. "
‘Fell Like Bricks’ is available on iTunes and CDBaby.com. The Stormalongs play regularly at Toronto’s best venues, and are planning to tour in 2009/2010.
That was a great set at The Drake. An energy-fueled excursion that straddles classic rock and the indie-underground, delivering songs that are catchy, atmospheric and dynamic. With the right amount of rock spirit, The Stormalongs continue to forge ahead.
Thank you so much for submitting and for introducing us to your music. As we will be taking submissions through the end of September it will take a while for us to confirm the INIC 2010 line up. We will be in touch
Hey guys, hope to make the show tomorrow. Be at the Horseshoe March 18 to see and meet The Decade of Sleep, it's the band that almost played Clinton's with you and Luz Atomica around this time last year. They're ready, they rock, and you'd be wicked on a bill together.
Hey guys, sorry I had to bolt right after the set but you put on a good one and it was great to see you in a bigger venue than usual... really gave your sound a chance to come up for air... ACC next?
That was a great set a The Annex Wreckroom. A blast of adrenaline-pumping rock, majestic riffs pouring forth, majestic and blistering, oozing of attitude. For those about to rock--we salute you.
Hey Guys ! We're gigging on Halloween too, and I can't wait for Cobbledick to get its act together in 2010 ! Aaaaaah ! (We're also playing Wrong Bar on Oct 30 if you're interested :-) See ya soon ...
That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo. An energetic speed of light, supercharged optimism, frenzied music that captures that high-octane spirit of that true, raw, rock and roll sound. Raucous. Powerful. Pounding. Onwards and upwards for the band.
