Hitting the Edinburgh BritBus showcase tour tonight in The Bongo Club is local band The Strands. With their unique blend of post-punk, grunge-rock the band have seen numerous successes over the past couple of years, including a sold out show in Edinburgh’s massive venue The Caves at the start of the year.
The Strands tonight come equipped with a new lead singer, John Wineberg. John’s vocals are outstanding; a sheer force that could easily rival the greats of Eddi Vedder and Kurt Cobain. New member John combines his blues-rock come grunge vocals with The Strands trademark heavy rock beats and fierce guitar-powered anthems. The new vocals and added guitars give The Strands an energetic kick, putting freshness into an already amazing band.
Onstage The Strands are a fireball of energy, throwing out their epic guitar-fuelled numbers at an ambitious speed. Unfortunately each band tonight are only granted a 25-minute slot on the bill, meaning The Strands have a limited space of time to propel their anthems at us. However, the band make the most of their time filling every second with rock precision and gruelling tunes. If fast, grunge rock and, furiously catchy songs with some of the best rock vocals in Britain is your thing, check out The Strands as they take their musical career further and further.
Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1. "The Strands sound like a muscular outfit who blend the lad-rock tendencies of Oasis and Kasabian with good, old-time, low-slung riffola reminiscent of Led Zep, Black Crowes etc. Loud and proud with their eye on the prize."
Jim Gellatly, XFM Scotland. "Hints of the Stereophonics with a bit of the Doors and Oasis coming through as well...Altogether creating a rather satisfying blend of driving indie rock.
Tomorrow To Soon is certainly one of those tunes that sticks in your head and wont go away."

Tom was the tall bald fella. You maybe never saw him. We both didn't stay long after the electro/funk mob came on. He had been taking some pics too. geared up wi pro stuff. Infact I think he will be on your new mates list today. I will have some stuff to post but the red lighting from the front about fucked it up. I had a quick natter wi John and Callum and his old boy.
Good gig last night lads. Pics weren't as good as I'd hope. I think the lighting tech knows when I'm going there now and sets it up to annoy me. Tom, who is mates with your manager got some good shots though. I'll post mine when they are sorted out.
