Dedicated followers of the Rockin’ circuit will need no introduction to this band who have carved a name for themselves during their long and distinguished career with T.V and radio appearances, records and countless live gigs worldwide.
For those less familiar, The Strollers are a 1950’s style Rock ‘n’ Roll band who perform their unique brand of Rockabilly, Jive, R&B and Bop as it used to be, with the same raw energy as the early pioneers of this timeless music.
The band’s origins date back to the late 1970’s - originally fronted by Gina Wall, they signed with leading independent label Magnum Force Records and went on to record three albums, three singles and several contributions to compilation albums during the 80’s and 90’s.
After Gina’s ‘retirement’ in 1997 Paul James took centre stage and The Strollers rocked on first as a trio (guitar/double bass/drums) until 2003, then as a 4 piece (guitar/double bass/drums/harmonica/guitar) and now in 2009, founder members Paul (guitar & vocals), Lol (double bass) and Brian (drums) can be seen rockin' up a storm as a 5 piece with Krzysztof (piano) and Norman (saxophone) and occasionally with Spike (harmonica/guitar/vocals) from the earlier 4 piece lineup.
Recent CDs ‘On your doorstep’ and ‘Where there’s life’ on the Foot Tapping Records label plus numerous highly acclaimed live performances alone and with Rock 'n' Roll legends, Charlie Gracie and Linda Gail Lewis, have shown the band to be back in their rightful place in the top ranks of European Rock ‘n’ Roll acts.
These boys are black belts in Rock ‘n’ roll and during their years together have explored and studied every aspect of playing and presenting their chosen medium at a level few have reached. Their musical style transcends and bridges the usual boundaries making them hard to categorise and impossible to ignore.
