It's not everyday that a band has the talent and focus to take the next step as a musical unit. After a lifetime of making music, the members of The Stryder created a unique sound hybrid that pushed the limits of the independent rock scene. The story began when lifelong friends and The Stryder founding members guitarist Peter Toh and drummer Scottie Redix formed Yearly, with Eben D'Amico on bass. Unfortunately the band met its demise as D'Amico left to join Saves The Day. It was at this point in time the duo recruited John Johansen to fill the vocalist position, and Nick Wendell to handle the bass duties. With this line up, the Stryder recorded and released their debut 7" with Elkion, followed by a full length on Equal Vision Records. Prior to beinning work on the 2nd LP, vocalist John Johansen exited the band. Longtime drummer Redix moved up to man second guitar as well as vocal duties with Toh. The band then recruited Durijah Lang, formerly of Glassjaw, to fill the vacated drummer position. With the new line up, the band released "Jungle City Twitch", an album that bridged the gap between the emo punk world that birthed the band and the experimental, almost trip hop fused sound they have invented. Jungle City Twitch was considered by many as "one of the most innovative and refreshing releases you will hear in 2002". In early 2003, the Stryder decided it was time to call it a day. They didn't leave anyone empty handed though, almost corresponding with the announcement was the release of "Savor the Danger!".
