THE SUBTERRANEAN HOWL: Cover Your Ears (And Close Your Eyes)

A piece of Bryan Sanchez's/DOA wonderful review about us! ::

Usually, some of the better music you find catches you during your most unexpected self. This is typically when you've heard enough music to sustain you for a year and you are simply putting on "the next album." I don't know about you all out there but sometimes my ears just beg for a break. Nonetheless, you pop on that next album and wait to see what happens....

Urban Jack's resonating and powerful voice is what really got me interested in "Cover Your Ears (And Close Your Eyes)". This is a fine album and one that -as far as debuts go- is one of the better ones I have heard throughout the entire year.

The guitars possess that gritty, sparkling sound and the music is downright dazzling. By the time you get to the epic closer, "Antebellum," the band has taken you through a tour of terrific music with equal highs and shining moments. And with an album full of great ideas, hummable hooks, rhythmic skill and an overall aesthetic expression, the sky is the limit.

The clean guitar on Staerker Als Vor and all the guitars on Der Vampir are recorded with the Swart. I love that little amp. I've been playing Jazz standards with a super good guitar playing pal of mine and he love the tone. Very versatile.

I noticed that you are on the latest Failing Record. Congrats, amigo!

You certainly get better and better as time goes on. Like vampires get stronger and stronger with time, but without the need for blood. ;[

Thank you.

The Victoria is a very sick amp. I haven't gotten much use out of it. It keeps breaking down. I bought a 22 watt Swart 1x12 studio amp. It's a boutique, handwired replica of the Fender amps from the 50s as is the Vicky, but it works and sounds like love. I do not regret that purchase.
