Subtropics is a compilation idealized by Discobot, Mottorama and Superpose. More than that, though, it's a snapshot of what has been happening in the electronic music scene in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina for the past few months.
During 2008, the three projects came out of nowhere and soon reached important goals such as national festivals, newspapers, television, magazines and specialized blogs all over the world.
Subtropics is a creative collective where each duo made a track available for the other two to remix, totalling nine tracks among remixes and original songs. This made the nuances, similarities and even the striking differences between each project come out, resulting in something that captures the essence of the sound and the scene of the island of Florianópolis.
This is only the first edition, though. In the future, with the addition of new producers and with periodic releases, Subtropics will serve as a map of a fruitful and innovative musical scene from the south of Brazil.

Subtropics é uma coletânea idealizada pelas bandas Discobot, Mottorama e Superpose. Mas mais do que isso é um retrato do que vem acontecendo na cena eletrônica no estado de Santa Catarina nos últimos meses.
Durante o ano de 2008, os três projetos saíram do zero e logo alcançaram importantes lugares, seja em festivais nacionais, jornais, televisão e revistas, além de blogs especializados no mundo inteiro.
Subtropics é um coletivo de criação; cada banda disponibilizou uma faixa sua para que as outras duas a remixassem, totalizando nove faixas entre remixes e originais. Fazendo assim com que as nuances, semelhanças e até mesmo as gritantes diferenças entre cada projeto viessem à tona, resultando num caldo musical que é a cara da música e da cena da ilha de Florianópolis.
Esta é apenas a primeira edição. No futuro, com a agregação de novos projetos e fazendo lançamentos periódicos, Subtropics servirá como um mapa de uma frutífera e inovadora cena musica do sul do Brasil.
