Combining influences from retro rock, jazz, folk, and melodic pop, The Sum has cultivated a lively and intensely deep sound led by piano and guitar, topped with the graceful, soul-filled voice of Felicity Combs. "It’s taken some blood sweat and tears and years of uncomfortable sowing and pruning till we found a feel that felt like home." No easy task for two musicians who previously led the show on their own. "Many a fang and a claw have been bared on the way here, but it was worth the long haul, and we’re very excited about this sound that has resulted in The Sum."
As for The Sum’s message, they play songs about real life. About hurt and despair, truth and lies, defeat, triumph and joy, hope. "We take a very digestion-friendly approach to songwriting. We want every person to relate to our songs and feel them on the inside. We try to capture the essence of human feeling and thought with our lyrics and music, and then once the relation is made, take the listeners to a place of hope. We have some deep moving songs, and some lighthearted fun stuff too. Life can’t be serious and sobering all the time, but it’s also not an uninterrupted bliss party. There’s a balance in real life, so we try to capture that balance in our music."
With a dynamically vibrant full-band show, and an intimate, highly grooving acoustic set, The Sum captures a diverse audience with their soaring melodies and passionate stage presence.

Hello my friends!!! I enjoyed listening to the "Hero" video you have posted on here today - wish the lighting would have been better, but it sounded great!!
I have to tell you Felicity, whenever we hear "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles, the style of that song and her voice reminds me so much of you! So if her music can make it big on the airwaves, I know yours can too! Keep writing and keep believing!!
Love & blessings ♥! * Lori *
