"The fantastic ‘Moving With The Shakers’ moves from old school boogie to west London-style broken beats in fine style!" Music Week
"17 trax and nearly 80 minutes later you are still hooked by another of the many faces of Dave Lee" M8
"Moving With The Shakers sees the Sunnies really finding their feet, and there’s not a duff cut in sight" iDJ
UK legendary dance producer and disco house pioneer DJ Joey Negro (aka Dave Lee) regroups with his supa-talented muso mates to reform London’s magical nu-funk and boogie hybrid: THE SUNBURST BAND
The Sunburst Band aka Tony Remy (Guitar), Julian Crampton (Bass), Pete Simpson (Vocals), Dave Lee (Keys, programming and production), Frank Tontoh (Drums), Thomas Dyani (Percussion) originally got together in 1999 when they released their first album, the funk-flecked 'Here Comes the Sunburst Band' to widespread critical acclaim. It featured the smash singles 'Atlantic Forrest', 'Ease Your Mind' and the worldwide anthem 'Garden Of Love' which was licensed everywhere from Dimitri's Playboy Mansion, Clubbers Guide to Ibiza, Mad Styles and Crazy Visions (Louie Vega) to Hed Kandi and also championed by the likes of Timmy Regisford, Louie Vega/MAW, Miguel Migs, Pete Tong, Oliver Lieb, Tony Humphries and David Morales to name but a few.
They followed this up in 2004 with their second longplayer, the equally loved 'Until The End of Time' which spawned club sensations 'Far Beyond' and 'Everyday'.
With members culled from the funkiest ends of Incognito, Jamiroquai and the Kyoto Jazz Massive, The Sunburst Band is unashamedly musical.
Amid a dance music scene that’s witnessing people shying away from the worst minimalist club plod, they serve up a sparkling antidote riddled with all the funkier genres ranging from '80s boogie, Disco, Jazz Fusion, Go Go as well as some lurvely down tempo tunes.
As you'd expect from a band used to working only with the best and wearing their solid funk stripes with pride, the toweringly afro-ed frontman Pete Simpson is joined on their albums by a range of cool guest vocalists with some as starry as the original Chic gals Norma Jean and Lucy Martin among others.
Hold tight as The Sunburst Band crank up the boogie factor for 2008!
"The boogie Assassin is back to kill again, no filtered two bar rubbish here, just pure live Disco, Boogie, Funk, Soul and Jazz - inspired numbers all funked up with a modern flourish - with lush instrumentation and the highest production standards too, quite, quite better than everything in my collection" DJ Dimitri From Paris
Logically, I know that at some point, I'm going to have to put another album in to my car CD player... but your latest disc has been lodged in there for about three weeks, and shows no sign of giving way any time soon. Great, great stuff, with a wonderful, fun, funky sound. Thanks so much! And, please play L.A. ! :)
Hi Guys! What's good my friends? Hope all is well. I'm wishing you a wonderful 4th of July holiday, even though it's not a national holiday everywhere. I'll be sure to save you a plate of BBQ from all of the outdoor festivities. Take Care
