The Story So Far...

In the late 1970s, world music reached an important crossroads. Rolando - King of Planet 808 - saw an opportunity to introduce Earth to a type of music never before been heard by human ears and to unite humanity the way he had united his own people. King Rolando scoured Planet 808 for the freshest individuals he could find. He sent this crack team on a stealth mission: to infiltrate popular culture and change the course of history.

First stop New York City, early 1980s. Although the identities of the team were never formally revealed, these anonymous individuals worked tirelessly in the background for a number of months. They began by combining the electronic music emerging from Europe with the already popular black disco and funk music. They planted the seeds in the minds of musicians who later became pioneers of this new musical movement. Some would call the resulting sound "electro", others "electro-hip-hop", "electro-pop" and even "electro-funk".

Fast forward 25 years and Earth's music scene is like Mark Knopfler - in dire straits. The electro-funk ethic which had been so important in the early 80s has been lost. On Planet 808, King Rolando is increasingly frustrated and decides to send another elite team to Earth to rectify the situation. Their mission - to bring back the ethos of 1980s NYC before the plague of wack rappers, attention-seeking wannabe-diva ho-bags and boring indie bands did irreparable damage.

Having already blown 2008's budget on coke and hookers, Rolando opted for a cheaper alternative. He outsourced this almighty task to trusted secretary of state, The BPG. He in turn recruited close aide Deadly D to organise one of his infamous 'Sexy Parties' - the events of of which will never be discussed. Importantly, three more individuals emerged from the fracas to join the crusade: Master of ceremonies Zero-P, intergalactic DMC Champion Chill Will D and brutish musclebound beefcake Papa Mic. The crew called themselves the Super Fresh Power Squad...

Originally hailing from Planet 808 - roughly one squadillion miles away - Super Fresh Power Squad have now settled in the City of Manctronics, England, where they have written some of the superest, most freshest, most powerfulest music ever to be created on Planet Earth.
