Swallow Your Pride was formed in March 2008 by members Martin and Sean.
Hailing from the towns of Hemel Hempstead and Chesham, Swallow Your Pride are a band looking to turn heads, with versatile stoner riffs and doom-esque breakdowns with industrial features. No matter what you listen to or who you are, the music will get you moving.
On 22.6.2008 the lineup was completed.
Sean and Martin discussed after two or three practice sessions about getting a second guitarist drafted in. Sean had played in a couple of previous bands with guitarist David, growing and learning the metal between themselves in other projects, and after some contact, David agreed to try out and was instantly welcomed into the band.
After deciding on the name Swallow Your Pride, Sean got in contact with local band Primative Graven Image's bassist, Josh. And after some discussion he also agreed to come and jam with us at our regular practice area in Kings Langley. With some pounding basslines he happily agreed to join the band.
Songs were being written, and the only thing missing was a vocalist.
The band got in contact with Flaire Decoda, who was originally the vocalist for Sean and Davids project Viper Venom. And on Saterday the 22nd of June, Flaire walked into the practice area to join the band, fitting in perfectly with his gritty, deep, growling vocals.
In September 2008, 6 months after the band had just begun, Swallow Your Pride confirmed their first gig to be played on the 20th of December. With more planned for early 2009, It truly is exciting times for the band.
Between the 20th of December 2008 and the 23rd of May 2009, Swallow Your Pride would go on to play 14 shows, with some awesome bands, meeting great people along the way, and building up a reputation.
Thanks to James Henton, Swallow Your Pride entered The White Horse battle of the bands. The first round was on the 13th of March, a friday, could the setting get any better?!
But, with a bit of luck, alot of sweat and a hell of alot of hard work, on the 15th of May, Swallow Your Pride would grace the stage to collect the winning prize of £1000, and a place in the history books as the first to win The White Horse Battle of The Bands.
After that momentous win, one more show in the hometown of Chesham, and onto recording the bands first album which should be available in September 2009, exactly a year after the band got the news of their first gig.
With lots of chemistry and an arsenal of heavy yet catchy songs, Swallow Your Pride has only just begun writing its story.
