Though the Swamees are firmly rooted in San Francisco, their music sounds as if it drifted off some Louisiana swampland. The band mixes greasy chicken-shack funk with folk subtlety and country swagger in a pig iron cauldron of molten rock psychedelia. It's a gumbo that pays homage to the traditions of American music while subverting them as much as possible.
The Swamees are JUSTIN ACHZIGER on drums and vocals, DAN MARCUS on lead guitar and vocals, DENNIS MOORE on rhythm guitar and vocals, and MATT YATES on bass and vocals. The tribal intensity of the rhythm section lays a solid foundation for the rich vocal harmonies and incendiary guitar work. The Swamees aren't a jamband per se but at times the raw emotion of these four individuals simply cannot be contained in the three minute song format. The resulting convergence is a long, drawn out musical landscape that stretches from the brutal to the serene and all places in between.
Its pretty funny when you can buy a couple boxes of girlscout cookies for $3 and then later that night sell them to drunk patrons for $5 a box. We'll get in the studio faster than I thought we would! -Brandon

Not just another genre, folk rock was born as a statement—of purpose, of taste, of superiority—the baby boom’s first imprimatur, a musical mission and a personal battle cry in a divisive time of racial tension and escalating war. For a generation of philosopher dropouts and drug-inspired visionaries, it was also the best way to partake in the era’s hippest form of artistic expression, in numbers previously unknown to man.
