The Swanns concerts deliver an overall smooth and harmonic Jazz sound.
Composer and producer, Harvey Swann, Sr., began playing the piano at age eight. . . adding the trombone at age 11. During his teens he learned to play the bass guitar as well. His childhood musical experiences came mostly from the church environment, picking up skills by accompanying adults, as well as utilizing self-taught skills. While pursuing a solo career as a jazz pianist in his thirties, he had promised his oldest son (Thomas) a saxophone. He made good on his promise a few years later and purchased Thomas an alto sax. Harvey Sr. first learned to play the sax himself and then began to teach Thomas and Jacqueline to play the alto sax. He also began to teach Benjamin to play the bass guitar and Harvey Jr. the piano. In 1998 a drum set was acquired for John (another son) and the jazz group The Swanns, comprised of father and kids held their first box office concert in February of 1999 and have been writing their history ever since. (You might spot them touring in their personalized limousine.) Soraja, the latest addition to the group, began receiving flute lessons from Harvey Sr. in 2001. Chontell, also a flute player, had begun playing the flute around 1998.

HELLO MY DEAR FRIENDS! HAVE A GOOD AND CREATIVE NEW SEASON!
("To Winter" by Claude McKay) Stay, season of calm love and soulful snows! There is a subtle sweetness in the sun, The ripples on the stream's breast gaily run, The wind more boisterously by me blows, And each succeeding day now longer grows....
