The Tailor Band began in March of 2008 when three people from different backgrounds decided to come together for one purpose. One night, these three played a five song set for the first time together in a small church. After the set was complete, they noticed that a man was intently listening from the outside of the building. After confronting the man, he said that his name was, “Tailor.” He mentioned that the music that the three had played seemed to mend the different troubling circumstances of his life. The three prayed with the man and parted ways for the night. In the wee hours of the morning, one of the three members had a dream. The imagery was of a ragged and torn cloth that was beyond use for any viable purpose. As the cloth lay there, filthy and beaten, a hand descended to stitch the tears and gaps of it together. Anything that was imperfect was made whole by the hands of this Tailor. Life had been restored to the once exhausted garment. From that day forth, The Tailor Band was born. The band originally consisted of Shawn Thomas (lead vocals & acoustic guitar), Johnson Kuruvilla (drums & percussion), and Bob Grosso (electric guitar & keyboard). Over the next year, Bob Grosso departed and the band was able to acquire Ben Mendoza (keyboard), John Mendoza (bass guitar), and Dayana Wilfred (lead vocals).
These individuals represent people who are not perfect. They are merely a testament to the great things God can do with very little. They live assured by the fact that the wounds that nobody else could stitch up, were forever sealed by Him who granted them grace and mercy.
