The Tasty Habits are students of classical music. Within their coursework at the University of Maryland School of Music, Deane and Dan have toiled over the different species of counterpoint, analyzed Stockhausen, and have endured 3 hour orchestra rehearsals. Yet after class, they have meticulously studied the art of pop music. From their initial connections to Weezer and Built to Spill to more recent college radio discoveries such as Barcelona and the Magnetic Fields, the Tasty Habits have analyzed and perfected the pop hook. With this knowledge (and a hefty dosage of tongue-in-cheek nostalgia) the Tasty Habits have entertained hundreds and toured successfully throughout the East Coast all without the help of a drummer or even an album to promote.
They have played with the bands ranging from local favorites Karmellas Game and Dan Deacon, to regional and national touring acts such as Harry and the Potters and Math the Band. Their high energy, hijinx filled shows have been seen at many local DC clubs, including Galaxy Hut, Warehouse Next Door, and DC9 and have been a favorite with underground radio stations such as WMUC, All Ages Radio, and Little Teddy Radio.
Now, with the release of their debut album This Is Why We Cant Have Nice Things and the recent recruitment of keyboard player Nestor Diaz and drummer John Patton, the Tasty Habits are ready and willing to show you how just how much they really do rock.
