The Tender Fruit grows deep in the sweltering streets of central NC where its tenuous songs ring prosaic, full-tinny & true. It is the newest musical incarnation of Christy Smith, a North Carolina native who has lent her voice and talents to several other prestigious projects over the past few years (Nola, Bon Iver, Megafaun).
The songs themselves blend the apocalyptic with the supernal. Layered vocals billow effortlessly around the crude, earth-bound drum beats and stilted guitar lines that court them.

Be Yr Own Hero Fest is an annual radical Do It Yourself (DIY) festival in Wilmington, NC. It includes workshops, info sessions, awesome live music, rad art, free stuff, free food, lots of fun and friends from far away and close by!
Be Yr Own Hero is now accepting music, art, film, performance, fashion, zine/DIY/craft, and workshop/info session submissions. The deadline for submissions is June 19th, 2009.

We had such a great time too at the BCHQ! It was really great playing with you guys and we would definitely like to do it again soon! And I am so happy you have our glockenspiel!!!
