Garth has played in/fronted Heavy Rock bands since the age of 14.
In the late 1990s, he gained international notoriety as lead vocalist in the band Flybanger, landing a deal with Columbia and touring North America relentlessly.
While playing the part of Heavy Rock front man, Garth was also working on music of his own. Jamming on his acoustic, he spent hours alone with his multitrack recorder recording some of the songs that have long haunted his soul.
Garth sent some of his recordings to FACTOR, and was given the professional Demo Award;
The resulting 5 song "Destroyed" EP was recorded at Ear Art by Tim Neuhaus.
For the Destroyed session, Garth enlisted fellow Flybanger band mate Rob Wade (drums), and guitarist Michael Johnston, whom both he and Wade had played with in KILL RHYTHM.
Johnston suggested bassist Russ Bergquist, whose impressive resume includes recording and international tours with Canadian heavy metal legends Annihilator.
What started as a recording project has become a band - The Thick Of It are four seasoned professionals who come from a Heavy Metal background, who enjoy playing some mellower/deep rock songs... music of a different flavor.
The band is working on new material as a unit, with live renditions translating a little grittier than what's on disc.
At the end of the day, what's important is good songs born of passion and emotion.
Well I just saw Makeshift Innocence w/Goodbye Beatdown at Sait's "The Gateway". That was pretty sweet. It depends how many people you expect. I've seen shows at Broken City, that was pretty cool. We'll keep in touch I can scope out a few places if you want. Just let me know.
£leTriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
