you didn't hear us come in... campfire torchsongs and new spirituals... left them here...
"both the lonesome cry of the appalachians and the old soul of the british isles are heard. a sound from pure song."
"The thimbles are from Nashville. They play a strange breed of folk music. We like it. You will too."
- EXIT/IN - Nashville
"i first heard about the thimbles from scott and robby, who raved about a band they'd come across playing for a handful of people in a cambridge rock club. that didn't prepare me for how great the thimbles would sound when i finally got to see them myself. their music was a soft collision of ancient sources - agrarian resonances, druid intimations, pagan strains - and cowboy songs. their harmonies were precise and otherworldly, and as subtle and gorgeous as the first shoots after a spring thaw. it made made me think about camps pitched by rivers and the old mill towns that appear out of nowhere in the new hampshire woods. with tender, flinty songs that seem to cast their lot with eternity, the thimbles are one of my favorite groups. i hope you get the chance to hear them sometime soon."
- Michael Tarbox (Tarbox Ramblers)
"We just love everything about you guys....... cross between the Louvins and Dylan...You sound like no-one I have ever heard..You're absolutely great ..."
- Bobby Whitlock (Derek & the Dominos)
and CoCo Carmel

What you lack for pizza you get back in good Mexican! though, based on eating one killer taco, I think there may now be a true Mexican joint across the street from Twin Donuts.
I miss you guys too. Damn. The universe expanded for a moment and then I woke up hungover and you were down south.
Honestly, I think we need to start our own city, or city-state, with good cheap food and a great music scene. We can call it Thimbleania if that works for you. I believe Scott told me there's already a town called McEwen. Doesn't mean we couldn't use it again... Tarbox City sounds pretty industrial, which would be great if there was any industry left... it does speak to the megalomaniac in me though.
All's well here. I saw some good B&W movies this rainy weekend which cheered me, and I'm playing at a Farmer's Market my sister helped organize on Tuesday.
