“Shuddering guitars, grainy, fractured vocals, haunting and bruised, The Thin Man will mix and match your own neuroses and fears… you’d be forgiven for thinking that this man sits in a rocker in the cellar… but you’ll kick yourself later.” (Dogged PR) After gaining a degree in Fine Art at Newcastle University, taught in schools and colleges. Performed in various acoustic blues bands and formed and ran the infamous ‘Bradford Blues Club’ (the BBC’ – Steve Phillips, Brendan Croker, etc). Spotted playing in a local bar by Bill Byford of The Rhythm Sisters; then toured and recorded with them for a few years (Ronnie Scott’s, Friday Night Live, etc) before developing own project with Huddersfield singers Mary Johnston, forming Heart Repair. Signed potential deal with Warner Brothers’ (East West) which was eventually shelved in the middle of the Recession in 1992. Didn’t touch guitar for ten years and learnt classical piano instead! Had to come back at some career (The Thin Man) playing self-penned songs from two available CDs (‘Mother’ and ‘Physiognomy’). Chris has received much critical acclaim for both recorded work and live performances.
NOW - Chris has formed a new Band - THE MEPHISTO SHEIKS. Their aim is to marry East and West (and sometimes 'other worlds!'), presenting, both recordings and live, a whole gamut of emotions. They utilise many unusual (and haunting) acoustic instruments from around the world (and make their own!). The multi talented members together blend many styles into a creative, exciting and ‘un-pigeonholable’ whole!!!
Currently recording a new collection of songs - available from September 2009

Reviews: MOTHER “Songs are excellent and production flawless. Congrats..” (Seriously Groovy) “…inventive, thoughtful, well crafted. And lyrically, at times, the album’s sublime, check this out…” (Exposed) “A genuine gem of an album (elliptical and imaginistic lyrically) and packed full of neat, well arranged songs…might find a slot in the touchingly downbeat section of your collection…” (Sandman) retro layout @ HOTFreeLayouts.com
