The ThunderChickens get their name from Mel's Polish Eagle tattoo, decided to have fun with people when would ask what it is, a she says" a ThunderChicken".
The ThunderChickens are a 4-piece Rock-n-Roll band based out of Bay City, MI. Fronted by the Melissa May(Mel) on vocals, violin, harmonica, and guitar. The band plays a blend of many musical styles with blues tinged melodies, arranged it into catchy and memorable songs, with lyrics you can sing along with, in an over the top, high-energy rock show you can't take your eyes off . Josh Jekel is on lead guitar without a pick and with a unique style and surf-a-billy sound. Justin McKinnon provides the dread-locked bass groove, while Terry Poirer brings the stick sliniging thunder on the drums. Together they play it loud and sing it proud. The music is dynamic and powerful,grabbing the attention of all in ear shot. The Thunder Chickens are an original band that also plays covers that are not typical, yet they are songs that get everyone groovin' and immediately noticing the twist of originality applied by the Thunderchickens. It is impossible to see them perform and not take notice.
