"“The last 30 seconds of the song ‘Fall’ is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard, hand on heart."
-Clint Boon (XFM)
"“What a top band in the making. The Tides just get better with every listen. These lads have massive potential!!".
-Mani (Stone Roses/Primal Scream)
"Its good to know that there is more than one Liam in Manchester with a very nice voice. Beautifully dark."
-Tony Wilson
"The sheer expertise of the band's debut EP Lights allowing the band to hit the ground running and is easily one of this decade's most confident and accomplished debut releases to come from a unsigned band."
-Out-Side-In
"An epic sounding Manchester five piece that do
sweeping rock majesty as well as any of your Radioheads or Coldplays, The Tides
could well be the next British stadium rock success. A winning way with sweeping
melancholy and a lead singer with natural charisma".
-UKmusicsearch
"The Tides trade on stunning near-falsetto vocals and massive choruses. Windswept, chiming indie-rock. The sound of the Pennine moors. Youll Never Change they already have that first potential breakthrough hit up their scruffy little sleeves".
-Manchester Music
Strong, consistent and so much better than the majority of the bands of the moment who appear to have heard nothing other than The Libertines
"Liam the singer sounds like the cool kid in the school choir. His voice sends shivers down your spine and makes the hairs on your back stand up".
-Jacksons Pit
"It's just a promo, but what a promo. The Tides need to be heard".
-Cool Noise
Its been a while since Manchester produced a band you can fall in love with, get sweaty to and lose sleep over all in the same night.
But The Tides are turning....
Here is music that sounds as epic, edgy, sinister and windswept as the Pennines where it was composed.
Built around the unique, androgynous voice of Liam Pennington (think Thom Yorke meets Placebo meets choir boy), the Tides play future anthems and dark melodies about growing up, coming down, crashing cars, escaping to New York and the lights leading the way…
Formed in a gloomy room and over lots of cider, The Tides have rapidly become one of Manchester’s hottest tickets, consistently selling out venues, and attracting a growing international fan base. Recent support slots with the likes of little man tate, pull tiger tail, The Fall, Puressence, Millburn and The Bluetones & the organ have brought the band to an even wider audience.
With this much raw talent, drunkenness, naivety, issues, self-belief and passion, it was inevitable that The Tides would not remain a secret for long.
