Cult London 3 piece The Tiger Lillies play a twisted fusion of pre-war Berlin cabaret and avant garde music hall in deranged anarchic gypsy style.. with such a unique sound, audiences around the world are both delighted and shocked by their darkly comedic and deranged songs covering controversial subjects such as blasphemy and bestiality, rape, murder, lowlifes and whores with unashamed theatrics and wit.
The Trio are fronted by singer Martyn Jacques who trained himself as an opera singer with a castrati style voice of heartbreaking beauty, whilst living alone above a strip joint in Soho for seven years. Accompanied by drummer Adrian Huge, whose appearance was described by David Byrne as James Joyce on drums, and who must doubtlessly be one if not the most famous drummer to frequently exchange his drumsticks in favour of rubber chickens and toy babies, and double bass / musical saw player Adrian Stout. Jacques plays accordion as he sings savage and passionate songs about the darkest side of human nature, his voice soaring and growling like a man possessed
As well as touring the world with material from their own 16 album repertoire, the band are also busy performing musical collaborations such as The Mountains of Madness, their first work with electronic sounds, featuring Alexander Hacke, the electronics alchemist of German noise terrorists Einst..rzende Neubauten, The Little MatchGirl based on the Hans Christien Andersen tale and Die Weberischen written with Felix Mitterer as part of the Mozart anniversary year. The Tiger Lillies received huge critical acclaim for their work on Shockheaded Peter which they both performed and adapted.
The Tiger Lillies FREAKSHOW
in Munich's TOLLWOOD FESTIVAL
A dark circus extravaganza about the odd creatures around and within us... The Tiger Lillies join forces with director Sebastiano Toma and a cast of delightfully eccentric performers and allure us into a parallel taboo universe of bizzare beauty and deviant charm.
The Godfathers of the alt-cabaret celebrate their 20th anniversary with a show of dark and deviant theatrics. For the first time in years, they will perform the songs from their Olivier award-winning smash Shockheaded Peter, along with a selection of numbers from their Grammy nominated album The Gorey End and other deranged fan favourites.
"The Songs of Shockheaded Peter and Other Gory Verses" will hit the road in the UK this Spring to surprise, shock and entertain conjuring up the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin and fusing it with the savage edge of punk.
"Those with a taste for the dark side will find it just the ticket" Daily Telegraph

The Tiger Lillies Book & The Inquisitorial Skeleton Shooting by bLUE
Two very special Tiger Lillies editions by the band's photographer and graphic designer b7ue. bLUE, spent 12 years travelling with the band worldwide, shooting pictures backstage, in bars, cemeteries, cars, bedrooms, with and without underpants... in dessous and dresses often with very low tech equipment and whatever light was available..
A quiet evening by the fireplace odd creatures visit us to tell us stories about their lives.... Their narrations talk of sad beauty and tragic fate and pull us into the fire and through to another world that exists next to ours. So close and yet so far away....
It is already evening.
The fire is burning.
The bellows is an accordion.
The guests are coming…
The Tiger Lillies instruct of the perils of sin with new songs of the danger of vice. Let these stories be a warning to those considering a life of pleasure over penance.
A controversial theatre cabaret charting man’s fall from paradise to hell, that premiered in April '08 at the atmospheric New Players Theatre. With Punch and Judy puppetry, the show puts a post-modern twist on the tale of Adam and Eve, as same-sex couple Punch and Jude represent the original sinners in the age of civil partnership. With an original new song for each deadly sin, the show bursts with The Tiger Lillies’ dark and deviant style. The three-piece band is joined by burlesque performer Ophelia Bitz and puppetry from performer Nathan Evans.
The album of the 7 Deadly Sins is available hrough our website tigerlillies.com
