VETERAN Essex frontman TIM AVES first joined forces with awesome US/Scottish blues outfit, THE SON HENRY BAND, for a fast and furious weekend of gigs at the 2007 Dundee Blues Bonanza, when they played five gigs in just two days.
In the intervening two years, Aves, award-winning singer, harp player and guitarist with the sadly-missed Essex band THE ROCKIN ARMADILLOS (and before that, top r'n'b attraction AUTOMATIC SLIM ) has continued to hone this alliance with American singer, guitarist and lap-steel virtuoso Son Henry and his Aberdeen-based band
Having worked together in Scotland a number of times, March 2009 saw the newly-christened Tim Aves-Son Henry Band blaze a searing trail across Southern England, thrilling English blues fans on a tour that took in eight gigs and six counties, all in the space of a breathless nine days.
Further adventures are on the cards - including dates at the 2009 Dundee Blues Bonanza, a short UK tour in the autumn - and a triumphant return to Southern England early in 2010.
As ever, the music will be blues of the very highest quality - a mixture of original songs by the two frontmen, plus a few well-chosen reinterpretations.
Each frontman is a vastly experienced and acclaimed performer in his own right - together with a rhythm section of the highest quality, they always promise to pull out ALL the stops to give punters one hell of a live show!

TASHB SHOW DECLARED GIG OF THE YEAR…
Here's what Mike Lightfoot said in his review of the year at the New Crawdaddy Club, Billericay, Essex:
"However, for me there were two gigs of the year. Inevitably Sherman Robertson had to appear right at the top as he was special guest at the 10th anniversary show in September and that evening of September 24th will live with those who were there for a very long time.
But for me (this is purely subjective and some of you may not agree) by a nose, my gig of the year belongs to the Tim Aves/Son Henry Band. I wrote at the time that one off collaborations either flop or they are dynamite. There is usually no in between and this evening was dynamite. The understanding between Paul Lester on drums and Dean Stewart on Bass was unbelievable and the raw energy that emitted from the band that night was something you feel once in a blue moon.
Now for the good news...this one off collaboration is returning to a venue you all love!!! 21st January...be there!!! and for those of you who enjoyed last years show then you can relive some of it on a fine CD called 'Live In The South'. Very many thanks to Tim for dropping me off a copy last week and yes, it was recorded at the same venue you all love...and yes it really does capture the raw energy and the mood of that fine evening."

Good luck Tim, Son, Dean and Paul for your first gig tomorrow night. Nine shows in eight days is really good going - and I plan to be at two of them. I hope the plan to get a live CD up for sale before the end of the tour is a success. See you all on saturday. Cheers, John
Hi Guys, I was sorry to hear the sad news about Kevin, particularly so near to the start of your new venture. However, you have a first class replacement in Paul Lester, so I'm sure it's going to be a big success. Good luck with the first gig in Farnham; and I look forward to seeing you all at the New Crawdaddy Blues Club and Blues at the Farm. Cheers, John (UK)
Hi Guys, It was good to see you at Denny Newman's gig last Saturday, Tim; and I'm looking forward to seeing the whole band in Essex in March AND April. All the best, John (UK)
What a great sounding combination. Sorry I will not be able to catch this multi-national alliance playing live! Good luck with the tour and with the collaboration. Ashwyn www. digitalblues. co. uk
