Influences
"The most requested band on the show this month" - Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 1
"Our new favorite band" - www.bangingdrum.com
"The Tivoli produced a spectacular sound...on this form they have big things ahead" - Rotherham Advertiser
"are you startin' to feel it yet? I sure am!! A truly brilliant album. Stunning, simply stunning!!"
"McMahon took centre stage, in fact at times dominated the stage... Ranging from thought provoking to danceable tunes it was an impressive set... both powerful and confident, they come across as a truly professional act"
- Sheffield Music Scene review, Magna 28/03/09
"Everyone here knows the words so well that Lee McMahon can just stand back and conduct the verses. You don’t see that so often with local bands, and it’s impossible not to be impressed, they have a legendary live set!"
- Sandman Magazine
"Rotherham-based Tivoli's traditional guitar band rocked with some zinging tunes"
- The Scotsman
"Blending dance and rock in an interesting new way, the Tivoli bear further observation as there’s a lot of potential in these tunes"
- Subba Cultcha
"Every song hits the mark"
- Radio Coma
"Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up...leaves you begging for more"
- Sheffield Music Scene
"Their imminent debut album has been a while in the making, but judging by the crowds reaction to a very tight and at times inspirational set its going to be worth waiting for"
- Sean Bruce, Sandman Magazine
"The Tivoli’s creativity is countered with their finger firmly on the pulse of the contemporary music scene, and the indie-centric sound does not fall victim to the category befitting masses as they hold an unequivocal edge to their music"
- The Music Magazine
"An excellent band…powerful songs"
- Iain Hodgson, BBC Radio Sheffield Raw Talent
"Inspired by the terraces, by small town struggles, wage slavery, the death throes of the welfare state and war. As a debut National Service works well and gives the definite impression of a band with bigger and better things to offer in the future"
- Socialist Worker, Socialist Worker Review
"Album of the Month for January 09...with an almighty bang, The Tivoli exploded out of the speakers with their album "National Service". One for the people, without a doubt"
- Bluesbunny, Album of the Month
"Diversity can be a double-edged sword unless done well. Fortunately over the years Lee McMahon and his troops have honed The Tivoli into a tight but lively offering that refuses to be pinned to one genre"
- David Dunn, The Star

This year will witness The Tivoli's debut album release. “National Service” is their first recorded moment, a monumental movement of supersonic guitars, rubberfunk bass, ivory towers and belts’n’braces brass all feathered and tarred by drunken, dirty drums and a jah wobble of tabla.
To kick things off Shiva Records will release Pawns On The Fence as a digital download single on 29th June.

Nice one cheers man, to be honest we aint that fussed about them these days, the songs yeah, but the recordings aint up to scratch really! thought they where good at the time but we have come on since then, we play them better and slightly different, loads more tighter with everything.. those recordings don't do the songs justice to be honest.. think we probably rushed into doing that demo, but hey ho we got some radio exposure from it so can't complain to much... gonna be doing another in a month or two i think, and we have better equipment now, be a better recording! how life with the tivoli boys anyway, what's happening, owt new... when you lot off to manchester again man?
