About Tomahawk Chop (is currently recording a 7 inch!)
The Tomahawk Chop is a band from Long Island, New York. We started in November of 2007 as a four piece. We became a three piece for far too long, and then we stole the Homecoming Queens' rhythm section after our drummer left the band, allowing Jeff to play lead guitar. We released a 3-song demo in 2008 which was recorded for free by our old drummers older brother. It was unmixed and unmastered and our good friends Sam Gursky and Dave Contino printed and burned anywhere between 30 and 60 covers and cd's respectively. We sold out of them, giving away a very good amount of them for free. This April we recorded a new EP, which was released May 8, 2009. We pressed 50 copies, all of which were accidentally burned as data discs instead of audio cd's. We pressed 50 more, and we're bringing them on tour this summer, imposing our music on anyone with ears willing to listen.
We exist solely for pile-ons, good pizza and to make songs for our friends to sing along to on the weekends.
Ok heres the deal. Theres a booking scam going around, and somehow, our name keeps getting brought up.
Heres how the scam works: Unsuspecting band gets a call from 1-800-280-1986, Concert One Booking or Concert First Booking, usually linked with Ontario. They make this pitch that makes it seem like a legit company. They then say they have booked Captain Diet for a show in November, usually a random date, at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, NY. If the band sounds interested, they then say you need to pay a fee by a certain date, before the show to play.
THIS IS A SCAM. Captain Diet has NO shows booked at the moment. We have NO PLANS on booking shows in November, let alone at the Knitting Factory. If you get this call, DO NOT BOOK A SHOW, AND DO NOT pay the fee. You will get ripped off.
The number they call with is 1-800-280-1986. The Number is listed on numberzoom.com's suspicious 800 number list.
We've had multiple people get this call, and ask us if its a legitimate operation. WE DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY NEVER BOOKED US, WE DO NOT PLAN ON BOOKING WITH THEM.
