The Tongue lives life following a simple motto: "go hard or go home"....and he ain't ever at home.
In 2005 you would have found him tearing opponents to shreds in various competitions around Australia -he is the only MC from NSW to win the Revolver MC battle- and also represented his country at the Battle4Supremecy MC championship in 2005.
06 saw The Tongue sign with independent Sydney hip hop label Elefant Traks- and the subsequent release of his "Bad Education" EP. This spawned two hit singles- "Bad Education" and JJJ-favorite "The Punch". Vinly copies of the EP sold out within a month and it was voted "EP of the year" on Australia's biggest hip hop website ozhiphop. com
By 2007 The Tongue was becoming a true force within the scene, and after a year of playing shows with artists such as The Herd and De La Soul, he was ready to release his debut album "Shock And Awe". It received a swag of rave reviews and led to two more big singles (jazzy love-song "Real Thing' and the Braintax-produced bouncy cartoon madness of 'Animal Crackers' feat Dudley Perkins). Then it came time to spread the word; alongside label-mates Urthboy and Hermitude "The Three Strikes Tour" sold out 10 from 13 shows around Australia.
In 08 its only getting crazier. After racking up an impressive list of guest collaborations (appearing on releases with everyone from Urthboy to Katalyst to Bias B) Tongue earned himself a spot at both The Big Day Out and Good Vibrations festivals....and then came "Redux: The Mixtape". Released in June this year "Redux" has helped solidify Tongues reputation as one of the most exciting MCs in the country. After overwhelmingly positive feedback it was decided another tour would be a good idea and- alongside 3x NSW DMC champion DJ Skoob- Tongue took his unique live show to 12 different destinations around Oz (from Byron Bay to Tasmania and everywhere in between).
In keeping with his upwards momentum 2009 will see the release of The Tongues second full length album through Elefant Traks. If your expecting a classic....you won't be disappointed.
