The Trafalgars Bio
The Trafalgars formed in 2002 in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, where the boys grew up and attended school together. Sharing a love of bands such as Even, You am I, The Kinks, The Who, The Small Faces, Supergrass, and a plethora of rock and roll based acts, the boys began practicing away in the pool room, assembling a swag of catchy tunes. An “Oh crap we’re not quite ready for this!!!!” level of success was achieved at an alarming rate for the boys, where they played a “shiteload” of local and interstate gigs, honing their live act and building a following.
Moving from the Barossa to Adelaide last year the boys built a make shift studio in their lounge room to record a selection of new tunes they’d written since their last release. Thus far they have recorded around 20 new tracks, which are ready to be released upon the world for their debut album and your listening pleasure?. “All the days and the nights” a demo track the boys recorded was sent in to Triple J by a friend and is now receiving airplay and great reviews.
• Won Falls Festival Competition and played the main stage 2005/2006
• Recorded both CD releases with Craig Harnath at Hot House Studios in Melbourne (Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Wilco, Jet)
• Debut EP “Thankyou Captain” Received DB Readers award for “Best EP”, and Awesam award for most popular “pop” act.
• Single “London Taxi” received high rotation on Triple J for several months. Was nominated for Hottest 100, and made 21 on Triple J’s Net 50.
• Recorded live set at Triple J studio for Home and Hosed
• Follow up release AA side “Sit With Me/ Sunny Side Drive”. Sit with me received air play on Triple J, Nova, Triple M and various local radio stations nationally and was nominated for Triple J Hottest 100.
• Received a Contemporary Music Touring Grant and toured the Eastern states.
• Various sold out shows including Ding Dong Melbourne and Jive Adelaide.
• Twice voted best Independent release by Superusers on Triple J’s Unearthed.
