The Transits are a new indie-rock band from Brisbane. After only a few months on the scene they are already making waves amongst fans and industry types alike. Made up of three aspiring young musicians; John Pavlou on the guitar and lead vocals, Josh Howard on bass guitar and backup, and Lachlan Coffey on the drums. The Transits sound is a street-smart blend of rock, punk, pop and indie. Drawing on the extremes of musical brilliance and innovation from past acts such as Bob Dylan and The Beatles to the modern energetic sounds of The Killers, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys.
John Pavlou and Josh Howard first met whilst they were both studying music at Alex Hills TAFE, and when the pair noticed Lachlan Coffeys' obvious drumming talent immediate steps were taken to enlist his help.
The Transits have played such venues as; Tongue and Groove, The Pavilion, The Alley Bar, Rics and wait for it... QPAC Concert Hall (long story). Along side great bands like Lord Byron, Triplickit and Falling Short. The Transits are currently playing the Brisbane circuit and working towards a release of an EP.
Quotes & Reviews from Media:
"The Transits are post-The Strokes children, a trio humming with cascades of tightly picked notes and natural indie rock dazzle. They’re not life altering but their hookish fretting, down-up and wistfully toned strumming is the right touch. They have an impressive grasp of dynamics and volume for a young band and change the pace at regular intervals for their longing audience. Bound to attract quite a following, The Transits share an onstage modesty that is a refreshing divergence from your typical striding rock band."
